10 Summer Beauty Hacks

Hey everyone, welcome back to Beaute Lies Within. Today's post is special because we are celebrating Beaute Lies Within's first birthday! This is rather exciting as my birthday is tomorrow (26th), whoop whoop. But anyway, for today's post, I am going to be giving you all, ten beauty hacks for quick and easy makeup, haircare and skincare solutions and routines.

1) DIY Body Scrub
So we're in summer here in the UK, which means we generally have our legs out, so we want to keep them looking smooth and glowing. This has to be the worst time to run out of body scrub, but no worries, mix 1 part instant coffee to 2 parts olive or coconut oil and you have your very own body scrub. Oil is great for keeping your skin hydrated and soft and coffee is great for exfoliating and actually helps improve circulation, helping to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Win!

2) SPF
This next one isn't so much of a hack as it is a tip. Sun Cream is your best friend this summer. SPF obviously helps to prevent sunburn but also sun damage. Your skin is so delicate and even on rainy days, UV light can still cause damage to the skin, so be sure to wear SPF daily.

3) Long Lasting Curls
Do you find that you curl your hair and an hour later they are falling out? If so this is a great trick for keeping your curls in place all day. After curling a section of hair, hold it for 30 seconds and spray with hairspray before letting it go. This way you are setting those curls down for the day ahead.

4) DIY Dry Shampoo
It's one of those lazy days, you're not doing much and need to pop to the shops. You haven't washed your hair and you're out of dry shampoo, what do you do? Easy. Use baby powder or talcum powder as a loose dry shampoo. Apply a little to the oily parts of your hair and massage in until it's no longer seen. Easy peasy. I don't use dry shampoo anymore. Talcum powder is just as good and much cheaper to buy. Score!

5) Dry Lips Saviour
I'm sure we've all suffered from dry lips at least once in our life. I have constantly got dry lips so this hack is perfect for me. Apply a little lip balm to the lips and use a cheap toothbrush to gently scrub away the dead skin. This is a great way to exfoliate the lips and is cheaper to buy then little jars of lip scrub.

6) Drying Nails Quicker
This one may sound a little crazy but bear with me, it actually does work. I am the worst person for smudging my nails. It's gotten to the point where I don't often paint my nails anymore. If you're like me, this tricks for you. After painting your nails, place your hands into a bowl of water with ice. Leave me for a few minutes and your nails with be fully dried. Yay, no more smudges.

7) Matte Lips
Do you have a glossy lipstick color you love but you wish was matte? Simple. Peel apart a tissue so you have one thin sheet and place over your lips. Dust a little loose powder over the tissue and peel off. Not only have you blotted away excess lipstick, you have mattified your lip colour that will stay in place all day.

8) Smudged Mascara
If you tell me you have never smudged your mascara, I am going to call your bluff. We all end up with little dots under our lower lashline or on our eyelids. DO NOT wipe it away quickly in a panic, you will make it worse. Leave it to dry and then easily clean it up with a cotton bud.

9) Fake Tan Mishaps
One of my favourite hacks I've ever learned is to do with fake tan. You know those pesky little orange patches? Or those streaky marks? Yes, those ones. Simply mix together equal parts baking soda and water and rub into those areas that need lightening or erasing and rinse away. You can repeat this as many times as you need to.

10) Multi-Use Products
Lastly, a massive trick if your tight on money, is to use multi-use products. Coconut oil, for example, is a must-have in my beauty stash. You can grab a big jar for a couple of pounds and it can be used as a moisturizer, hair mask, cleanser and less known about is a shaving oil. Also, mascara is a great one. It doubles as a mascara and can be applied as an eyeliner with an eyeliner brush.

Well, that's all ten. I hope you found this post helpful and can take some tips and tricks away with you. Thanks for reading and Happy Birthday Beaute Lies Within!!
